The MALDIVE Spa

You are buying  a brand new beautiful and exceptionally powerful  compact sized 3-person spa with 53 high pressure massage jets, lounger bed, 2 comprehensive therapy seats, forced air aromatherapy system, synchronised chromotherapy lighting system, and much, much, more.

This world class spa is specially engineered with  our integrated energy management system to create the most environmentally friendly  design and provide a low cost of ownership.

This compact tub seats up to 3 adults in comfort and features exceptional performance and high specification within a small footprint at a very low price point. We are professional spa distributors so we provide an all included “turn key” package in this price.

You will also receive a comprehensive set of accessories including: the spa cover, cover lifter, steps and the chemical pack which we do not attempt to list as “free gifts” as we insist all these items come as standard with our spas. See table below for details.

We will aim to deliver your factory fresh spa to you within 3 weeks of receipt of your deposit! Compare this commitment with the extended delivery times of others.

This compact sized family spa measures just 2.0m x 1.53m by 0.8m high so it will fit into the smallest of garden spaces or even a home gym area as it will even fit through many doorways (please measure yours carefully). Built to our energy efficient specification using the best quality branded equipment including Balboa M7 technology equipped controls, and best quality Lucite acrylic for the shells, we supply at genuine factory direct prices from our European partners.

Please check carefully the specification listed below,  this really is a wonderful spa. If you see a this spa anywhere else – Beware! It will not be genuine as these spas are exclusive to us within the UK.

The quality of the spa is demonstrated in lots of subtle details that add together to provide consistent enjoyment for the many years of happy use that you are entitled to expect from such a large purchase. For example: Many compact spas have just 1 pump, this model has 4 pumps in total (1 filtration/circulation pump and 3 powerful hydrotherapy pumps).

This spa comes with the sort of specification you would hope to find only on high-end full sized spas at many times this price point.

Just because you are tight on space you should not have to forgo the pleasures of high performance hydo-massage.

Each of the three stations is powered by its own pump (no having to share massage power in this tub!). The contoured relaxer bed has 22 jets alone to rejuvenate every part of your tired body. Next to it is a 16 jet massage seat designed to gently massage across your entire back and hips as well, whilst opposite is the "intenso" seat with its 3 huge upper torso and shoulder jets and reverse moulded neck jets too. Each station has its own comfort pillow (rare on a compact spa) so you really can relax back and enjoy big spa benefits from our unique compact "Maldive" spa.

Optional Audio unit details

We could have included a typical "internet" grade sound system in the price of this spa and exaggerated its performance, but this is a high quality spa and the branded Sony system has been chosen to reflect this quality rather than just provide a typically disappointing hot tub squawk box. So we've offered it as a added cost option but at a very keen price for this calibre of sound system.

SONY SPA AUDIO SYSTEM (OPTIONAL)

Head unit: SONY CDX-MR10 unit with CD player, AM/FM radio, and built-in MP3 socket. The unit has conformal coated circuit boards which means it is FULL MARINE grade, and designed to be used around wet environments such as a Hot tub.  UV resistant tested to ASTM G154 so it will not deteriorate in bright sun. Output power of 4 x 52 watts which is really, really, seriously annoy the neighbours, loud. (don't be misled by claims of  200w hot tub sound systems, its like saying if a car turns its wheels at 50mph it can go 200mph because it has 4 wheels!). The face of the unit can easily be removed for security if required

Waterproof enclosure: We double protect the audio unit with a SONY GMD-616 waterproof cover. This high quality enclosure costs more than most hot tub audio units themselves but it is worth it to add years of life by adding additional protection from our British weather. The domed lid is designed to close over an mp3 player when one is plugged into the set in order to provide total protection for both units.

Dual cone cabinet speakers: We've mounted two amazing sounding  SONY 170mm mid range speakers on the front spa panel plus two base units actually inside the cabinet beneath the shell. Now you may be wondering why we put speakers in the front cabinet panel facing away from the tub when you want to listen to music in the tub...Its oh so simple - as much sound comes out the back of a speaker as comes out of the front - that is a fact! And they look much better one way round than the other, which is why we put the pretty side on the outside of the cabinet! Because of our open structure thermic chamber design, sound from the rear of the speakers is pumped around the spa shell so you can actually feel it through the water.

The closed cabinet design forms what is called an "infinite baffle" audio chamber, which enhances the sound quality considerably, giving it far more depth than could be achieved with any other build method. Of course if you want to keep all the sound within the spa area, simply use the fader control to turn down the front speakers to achieve your desired audio effect, or of course fading them up provides for a great party on the patio!

So we hope you can see that this is not your typical spa cd player set up, and why because it's not a cheap disappointing throw away system, we charge separately for it.

Optional "Genesis" system

If you choose any of our options, it should be this one! The genesis device is a digital bromine generator that automatically produces an endless supply of natural Bromine for cleansing and sanitising your Spa water. It is probably the most advanced Spa water management system available. it creates a wonderful water quality that is safe and comfortable to use. The spa water remains crystal clear for up to a year between changes and time spent playing chemist with your water is no longer required.

GENESIS DIGITAL WATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM  (OPTIONAL)

The Genesis water management option is an electronic digital device that produces an inexhaustible natural bromine in gaseous form. The simple to use control panel allows you to set the output as you require and the GENESIS then does the rest. Because you are no longer constantly adding chemical tablets with their binders and fillers, the water stays crystal clear, much more pleasant to use, and only needs changing once a year, while you get to spend far less time playing chemist with your water and much more time enjoying your spa!

Water maintenance becomes a breeze with GENESIS equipped spas. Less chemicals to buy, lower hazard risk for young children, less environmental impact, lower water consumption, less time playing chemist, and more time spent enjoying your spa.

Simple to operate

  • Ozone sterilisation

  • Aromatherapy bubble system

  • Mood lighting chromotherapy

  • Heating system - Fingertip controls

  • Manual button lock - for child safe use

  • 3 large massage pumps

Our spas are equipped with a US made control system proven as the most advanced and reliable available. The touch pad provides easy control of all spa functions to allow you to quickly set the temperature, pumps, lighting etc just how you like it.

A large display screen clearly shows the status of all spa functions and the buttons can even be locked to avoid the effects of errant little fingers!

On a technical note the computerized controller is fail safe and self diagnostic, any errors or out of limits occurrence being displayed on the screen and the system automatically shut down if required, making this amongst the most reliable and safest systems available.

Great to look at now - and for years to come

Have you ever purchased expensive timber garden furniture and been shocked by how quickly it became grey and shabby? Well that's what happens to timber spa cabinets as well. Consider also how quickly wet rot will set in on any spa with a timber base in contact with the damp ground. We've designed our spas differently. There are simply no organic materials in contact with the environment on these spas, so simply nothing to rot or deteriorate over time.

Our DRTB insulation system keeps the inside workings as dry and warm as your airing cupboard, whilst the heavy duty fibreglass pedestal spa base and UV stabilised cabinet skirt ensure no damp or bug ingress from outside. Add the included Marine vinyl covered thermal cover and you can see we have built-in longevity to protect your investment for years to come. Surprisingly a great many spas still have either inferior ABS blow moulded plastic bases that easily distort and crack, or even timber plywood (often covered in black plastic or painted black to try and fool you into thinking its in-organic) which will certainly rot out very quickly – hardly a good investment at any price.

Our spas will keep their good looks for the many years of happy ownership you're entitled to expect from such a large purchase. Just an occasional wipe over with a UV barrier spray is all that's needed to keep the surfaces in tip top condition.

Wet testing

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY

We know that we offer fantastic value for money only possible because of our direct and exclusive volume agreements with our suppliers, but its still a lot of money to find, and there are many "cheaper" tubs you can search out on the internet. So we really want you to try out these "bargains" and we really, really want you to try out our spas so that you can experience the difference between an "internet" tub and a genuine hydromassage spa.

You wouldn't spend this sort of money on a car without first road testing it, so why buy a spa (which you probably plan to keep for far longer) without first wet testing it?

We have a large showroom with parking in leafy Chobham (near Woking in Surrey) and you are welcome to come along for a no-obligation try out session. Please call us beforehand so we can ensure the spa/s you are interested in are up to temperature for you. At the very least we make very good tea!

Techie stuff

If you're interested in what makes our spas tick, we've provided a mass of info below - but if its just the bubbles you're after you might want to skip this section...

We fit 3 huge heavy duty 56 frame pumps to provide strong massage performance from each jet. Each pump is positioned within the spa cabinet to provide maximum efficiency from short pipe runs. Our integrated design includes specially finned motor bodies that allow the heat from the motors to be recycled as part of our dynamic thermal barrier insulation system.

The small pump below circulates the spa water through our proprietary 3-stage filtration system. Our control system allows the user to choose from continuous filtration, or design their own filtration/heating cycles to take advantage of a cheap rate electricity tariff for example.

Many vendors deliberately quote bhp (brake horse power) to mislead you into thinking the pumps are more powerful than they actually are.  Basically bhp means the maximum torque (turning force) that a motor would exert if you rammed a crowbar into it and stalled it. Rather a pointless statistic for the average spa user! The largest true hp continuous rating of a domestic supply 230v motor is 2.5hp, yet we often see claims of 4, 5 or even 15hp! Most spas have 2HP pump motors which consume about 1.6kw of electrical power or 7 amps each. The Maldive spa is fitted with 3 x 1.6kw (2HP) pumps, which makes it an exceptionally powerful spa.   We quote the kilowatt (kw) rating of the pump motors as this is the only honest way to describe the power of any electrical device.

Our multi-stage water management system includes a separate circulation/filtration pump to ensure optimum water quality.

Our unique 6 (or 7) stage Crystal-clear water management system works as follows:

  1. A floating weir at the filter mouth that streamlines the water flow into the filter mouth.

  2. A micro-fibre pre-filter to catch small particles at the skimmer level.

  3. The skimmer tray that supports arrested debris from the water surface.

  4. Twin large capacity cartridge filters take care of any remaining impurities.

  5. High output Ozonator that adds O3 into the water circuit to sanitise at ion level.

  6. Circulation pump to draw spa water constantly through the system.

  7. Adding our optional "GENESIS" digital bromine generator removes the need for any additional sanitizer - see details below!

We build-in a unique 3 stage filtration system:

  1. The micro fibre pre-filter increases the life and reduces maintenance of the cartridge filters.

  2. The removable skimmer tray to catch floating debris from the water surface.

  3. Double high capacity, high flow  filters for less frequent cleaning (about once a month for typical use) and longer life (typically a year) before replacement is required.

At the heart of the spa is a very reliable Balboa control system made in North America. Balboa  "Spa Packs" as they are known are probably the most reliable systems in the industry and are used by the majority of spa manufactures across the world.

We have our systems specially configured to allow exceptional set-up flexibility so that we can tailor settings to each customers needs and thereby minimise energy consumption.

Our Balboa solid state control packs are specially configured for maximum flexibility and energy conservation.

They have no moving parts, no mechanical pressure switch or thermostat, but solid state sensors that are extremely reliable and maintenance free.

This sophistication allows the CPU to control the spa functions more accurately and in doing so save you money on running costs through more efficient energy use.

Structure

The spa base: The most important part of a spas structure because it is the foundation that supports everything else. There are four types of spa base used by manufactures:

1. No base at all! The cheap Chinese solution where the spa sits on legs and the base is open - don't even think about it!

2.  Wooden base - painted black or covered in thin black vinyl to fool you that its plastic - many supposedly top end  manufactures still try and con you with this. Even if they try to hide it behind corex or vinyl, it will still rot within a few short years and destroy your tub.

3. ABS blow moulded plastic - a much better alternative to wood as it is rot and damp proof and it is used by many manufacturers now. It's main disadvantage  is that it is quite weak and brittle and easily splits or distorts - often being damaged in moving the spa.

4.  Heavy duty Fibre-glass - by far the best method as it extremely strong, does not distort, does not split and is completely rot and damp proof. Only a very few manufactures use this material because it is expensive to produce. We specify this type of base on all our spas.

Construction: How the spa is constructed affects how long it lasts, how much service visits cost and running costs. There are 2 construction methods used by manufacturers:

1. Full foam fill - This is where almost the entire cabinet space is shot full of Urethane foam. This sticks the whole assembly together and provides support for a weak shell. The problem is that over time the spa puts on weight as the foam cells break down and absorb water, rotting the spa from the inside out.
2. Self supporting structure - A much stronger shell is produced with additional fibreglass reinforcing to make it self supporting without the need for a soggy foam pad. Instead the shell sits on pillars which take the load down to the heavy duty base. This construction allows the free movement of air around the structure, allows optimum positioning of pumps and equipment for maximum performance and efficiency, and keeps service costs low as all the equipment is readily accessible to the service tech rather than buried in foam.

Insulation: Its very important to keep running costs low and the insulation method used will make all the difference to your running costs. There are 3 insulation methods used by manufacturers:

1 Full foam fill - Obviously having almost the entire cabinet shot full of foam makes for good insulation initially, but what about the heat from the pump motors. A pump motor generates about 400 C of waste heat. With all that foam about the heat has to be vented outside into your garden. This is known as an "open" thermic system as energy is constantly being lost from the system - adding to running costs and environmental impact.

2 Light foam fill - A thick layer of foam is sprayed around the shell and cabinet inside leaving a void between the layers. The pumps heat the trapped air creating a "Thermic chamber" around the spa. Much better than full foam but it is inefficient because thermal transfer back to the water is poor whilst over time the cells in the thick foam break down and absorb moisture - and of course the spa still contains a large quantity of environmentally hazardous Urethane foam.

3 DRTB (Dynamic reflective thermal barrier) insulation - In tests this system has been shown to be the most energy efficient of the three methods. A light foam covering is applied to an extremely strong self supporting shell. Reflective foil covered insulation is then applied to the inside of the cabinet surfaces and literally bounces back any heat  into the spa shell. The pump's heat the trapped air, but  this time because of the light foam covering the shell this thermic chamber actually heats the shell itself, keeps all the equipment warm and dry, and prevents any chance of rot as any timber is kept perfectly dry. This is a "closed" thermic system as all the energy is kept inside the structure and waste heat is recycled back to the spa water. It costs more to build a spa this way but the benefits are substantial.

How all this saves you money

Put simply we build our spas as a fully integrated system, each part of the design working together to add performance, increase efficiency, build-in reliability and speed up service time.

The effect of this is not only to save you money on your initial purchase, but to keep on saving you money with a lower cost of ownership and just as importantly a much reduced environmental impact from our more efficient use of energy and less use of hazardous build materials.

Delivery and commissioning

  • We aim to deliver and commission your new spa within 15 working days from receiving your payment for the successful purchase.

  • We offer 2 delivery options:

  • simple "Kerbside delivery" (not recommended)

  • final install and commissioning service (very strongly recommended).

Kerbside delivery: This includes delivering to your address using our either our in-house specialised vehicles or a specialised delivery contractor. This kerbside delivery is exactly that, the delivery lorry will stay on the public road and lift the spa off the lorry onto an adjacent space where it will be left on timbers. It is your responsibility to arrange its movement from this point onwards, so you should plan to have suitable trolley/s and strong helpers available to you.

This is a heavy, complex spa so we really recommend the full installation and commissioning service by our experts.

Install and commissioning: Our teams are fully trained, insured, and experienced at installing our large heavy spas and will carry out the process with the minimum of fuss and disruption to you or your neighbours. The spa will be placed on our specialised trolley from its delivery position and wheeled around the house to its final position. Once the spa is in its final position, it will be unwrapped and checked and any accessories will be fitted, the cover and safety clips fitted and it will be filled from your hose from a suitable mains water supply, the pre-installed electrical feed will be connected, the spa powered up and all systems checked. We will then balance the water chemistry and provide a tutorial for you explaining safe, simple water management. We will provide you with a tailored chemical starter kit and explain carefully to you how and when to use it. You will be so impressed with the bubbles that you will quickly forget most of the information we impart, but the comprehensive Spa handbook as well as our own spa survivors manual will help in moments of crises as will our very friendly office staff just waiting for your subsequent telephone call for help. Don’t worry – it’s what we do!

Before Delivery

This is a big, heavy, powerful spa so you need to pay particular attention to the following points:

  1. Survey

  2. Delivery Access

  3. Positioning

  4. Service Access

  5. Hard standing

  6. Electrical connection

  1. Survey: If you are lucky enough to live locally to us (within 20miles) we will carry out a free site survey to establish exactly how we are going to proceed. It is then our responsibility to successfully affect the delivery and you will not be liable for any additional costs once we have agreed the method. For greater distances we do make a charge towards the surveyors’ time, but if you are in any doubt about the access we strongly recommend you consider paying for our surveyor to attend before bidding as it will avoid the possibility of any un-expected expense later if access problems come to light on the day. So once again please call our office to discuss a survey before bidding.

If you are confident of carrying out your own survey, please pay particular attention to the points in the “Delivery Access”  section below which will assist you in what to look out for.

  1. Delivery Access: The Spa will normally be delivered by our expert and experienced crew on our small crane truck which can fit through most driveway gates, or a van and specialised spa trailer. The spa can be wheeled around the house on a trolley that steers at both ends but doesn’t levitate - therefore any steps, walls, rockeries, fishponds and favourite shrubs etc can only be got over by our team placing ramps and are subject to height, width, and health and safety considerations (particularly for the shrubs!). The Spa and trolley need a minimum width of 0.92m unobstructed, straight access. We can use a smaller Piano dollies with this compact spa over smooth ground so reducing the minimum straight line width requirement to about 0.82m. Any bends or corners on the route must be significantly wider to be able to get the spa around. The Maldive spa when strapped on its side on our trolleys will need a minimum unobstructed headroom of just 1.65m so if you can walk the route without ducking too low the spa should be ok for height clearance.  We can do steps provided they are not too steep, curved or too high by ramping over them (within reason), but just hopeing it will go because its oh so nearly wide/tall/straight/level enough and only a bit too tight here and there, just won't do it for us!

On the other hand there are often alternative ways in that are easily overlooked. We are very used to removing fence panels and gates and even the posts as well occasionally (and we put them back). Often neighbours are only too pleased to help out with access through their garden. We have air bags to lift and tilt the spa, a range of different dollies and jacks and even a lifting table to raise it to a higher level (terrace/raised decking etc). If you’re not sure how it’s going to fit around your house, just call us and we can often come up with suggestions for you to investigate. We try to be very reasonable and helpful but sometimes we have to make a small charge for this "Access work" depending on the time and complexity, so please discuss it all with us first.

Our crane truck will lift the spa and trolley over a wall or fence that we can park up next to but will not lift over any building. This sort of high lift requires the services of a local crane contractor who can lift the spa over your house or garage. This needs to be arranged by you at your cost and we can assist you with the arrangements so please call us first to ensure everything is co-ordinated with our delivery team. If you are in any doubt about your access, please call our office on 01276 856644 before bidding so we can discuss all the options available.

We want to make delivery as simple as possible but please be realistic about the access, and no, we can't bend the spa to get it around a sharp corner, and our two man team cannot lift it over obstacles either without a lot of additional help - it may be small but its way too heavy - if it looks as though manual lifting is required, please contact us first.

In the event that our team arrive and they are of the considered opinion that the spa cannot be wheeled in without unreasonable risk of damage to it, your property, or themselves, they will at your option:
a) Leave the spa in a place designated by you pending either completion of required access works or arranging a suitable crane to affect the delivery.

b) Return the Spa to our warehouse for free storage up to 30 days pending access works/methods as above.

In either case, if we didn’t previously carry out our survey, an additional charge will be made for the subsequent delivery/commissioning subject to the particular case details. So please, please, please call us if you are in any doubt at all.

  1. Positioning: Statistically the closer to the house a spa is positioned – the more frequently you are likely to use it. Try and find a level spot that catches the sun and not beneath any overhanging tree branches that could shed leaves into the water, and not overlooked by neighbours. Also try and avoid it being too close to a neighbours house to avoid any possible noise or other annoyance to them from bathers, water turbulence etc. So if you can tick all those boxes you should have the perfect position planned. Falling leaves and privacy concerns can usually be easily resolved by adding a gazebo, cabin or even a simple spa brolly – please call, we have lots to choose from.

  1. Service Access: Because of the complexity of our spas and the amount of equipment installed within the cabinet, it is a good idea to leave a minimum of 600mm service access all around the spa. As a minimum the front panel of the spa must be accessible but in the unlikely event of a warranty or service call being required, a charge may be made for time/equipment needed if it is necessary to move the spa to affect access space that is not available from the original siteing.

  1. Hard standing: Our spas all  have an exceptionally heavy duty and completely impervious fibreglass pedestal base (so it won't absorb water or rot) but when full of water and bathers the Maldive spa will weigh in the region of 1.45 tonnes. This weight is evenly distributed (approximately 500kg/sqm) but it needs a firm level surface to sit on. Well seated paving slabs or even well compacted scalpings can be used but may settle overtime. The ideal hard standing is a 100mm thick concrete pad with a single layer of lightweight steel reinforcing mesh laid within the wet concrete about 50mm below the surface. Remember that you will have bare footed bathers entering and leaving the spa and water will get splashed over the side so we recommend extending the pad 600mm all around the spa’s footprint to avoid a mud-bath developing into a moat!

We don’t recommend placing the Spa directly onto decking unless it is exceptionally strong and well supported. It is not only the strength of the decking that is important, but also it’s stiffness. Decking is organic and just like a wooden musical instrument it can act as a sound board for any machinery placed on it and dramatically amplify any noise levels. Heavy rubber mats placed beneath the spa base can “de-couple” the effect but overall, decking on supports is not a good base for a Garden Spa. It is better to have a concrete pad beneath the spa and either deck up to the pad and Spa all around, or simply lay the deck boards across the concrete pad surface so they are firmly trapped under the Spa’s weight and cannot vibrate. Our office can give you advice on suitable deck designs.

If the spa is to be placed on any raised structure such as a terrace, veranda, flat roof, deck, etc or to be placed over a void such a cellar, cesspit, soak away etc, we strongly advise seeking the advice of a structural engineer as to the loading suitability. In all cases where it is intended to place the spa on any such structure, our pre-delivery survey is mandatory (we need to know what additional installation equipment to bring). Please be aware that our survey is to establish our delivery logistics only, any comments we may make concerning any structural issues are anecdotal only and it is your responsibility to ensure that the site chosen is suitable for the spa as we take no responsibility for any type of damage that may occur as a result of the spa being placed in your chosen position.

Often our spas are simply sited on existing patios. It is important to check the amount of run-off (slope) to the patio surface. Use a builders level (or your iphone and a long straight plank!) to measure the slope over the length and width of the spa footprint (2.0m square) Up to 2 or 3 cm is just about ok but if it is much more than this it may affect the working of the spa so please call us to discuss before delivery.

  1. Electrical connection: This powerful spa needs a 32amp electrical feed to take power from your consumer box to the spas control pack. This work must be carried out by a registered and certified electrician and a “part P” certificate obtained by you and a copy forwarded to us in order to activate your Spa warranty. Upon receipt of your deposit we will provide a detailed specification for your electrician. This work must be carried out prior to our delivery/commissioning date or an additional charge will be made for any subsequent commissioning call out required. We can assist you with finding suitable electricians that cover the Surrey/ Hampshire areas if required.

Delivery Charge

This is a high quality Spa and it is important for your future enjoyment of it that our delivery teams are rewarded to do a professional installation rather than the half-a-job "bodge-it-and-scarper" routine that we often hear about from victims of the so called "free" services. Hence we have decided it is more open and honest to keep the delivery cost separate from the spa cost so you can see what you're paying for - and we can ensure that our delivery/commissioning service remains highly professional.

Warranty and service

We offer a realistic warranty service that we actually deliver on for our sales within the UK as follows:

  • Parts: 2 years from date or purchase.

  • Labour: On-site labour for 1 year from date of purchase.

  • Shell surface: For cracking, grazing, 5 years from date of original purchase.

  • Leakage: 2 years from original purchase date.

You can find more enticing warranties from some other vendors but these are often meant as marketing tools rather than realistic warranties. A common gimmick is to offer an exceptionally long warranty through a separate service company that can easily be wound up if the complaints get too loud. We and our factory stand by our warranty and aim to provide complete peace of mind for our customers. Realistically if the spa is going to have a problem it will occur within the first two weeks as a result of a manufacturing fault. These occurrences are very rare as all spas are thoroughly tested before leaving the factory and often again by ourselves. In the states it is common to find “lifetime” warranties. These actually mean 10 years only, and even then they are what is called pro-rated which means that after year two the supplier pays out a reducing percentage of the repair cost which usually means the warranty is to all intents and purposes worthless by year three. Pro-rated warranties are not enforceable in the UK. Your purchase is also covered by the sale of goods act and distance selling regulations which we comply with and which may give you additional consumer protection.
